Yuichi Yokoyama (横山裕一)
Full-color paintings spread examining architecture, kinetic speed, hyper-geometries, and sound-motion sequences.
In Paperback Issue Two, Yuichi Yokoyama presents a vibrant, unyielding sequence of paintings that decouple manga from human emotion, channeling pure kinetic velocity and physical structures. Yokoyama's characters navigate colossal subterranean complexes, pneumatic architecture, and mechanized landscapes where sound effects (onomatopoeia) form physical tectonic shifts in the visual field.
About the Artist
Born in 1967 in Miyazaki Prefecture and based in Tokyo, Yuichi Yokoyama studied oil painting at Musashino Art University before radically reinventing the boundaries of neo-manga. His graphic masterworks (such as New Engineering, Travel, Combats, and Garden) have been exhibited in major museums worldwide including Tokyo, Paris, Berlin, and New York.
